The Gbagyi people often face significant challenges when it comes to reliably accessing clean and safe water. These challenges are exacerbated as they are an agrarian community and need water not only for consumption but for growing their crops. Continued displacement has also contributed to these water challenges. Today, the Gbagyi people and other original indigenes rely on sources such as streams and communal wells, which often dry up in the dry harmattan season. Many communities also rely on boreholes, which are often contaminated due to age and lack of adequate maintenance.
