Cultural festivals are an integral part of Gbagyi culture, and the indigenous communities in the Federal Capital Territory celebrate different festivals, often during the festive period that marks the end of the year or early in the new year. Some of these festivals include the Karu Cultural Festival, Bwaya Day, the New Year Festival and the Gbagyi Day. The celebrations offer a sense of belonging to the people, and also provide entertainment. Festivals that focus on cultural or ethnic topics also aim to educate the community members about their traditions. the involvement of elders sharing stories and experiences provides a means of unity among the people. Finally, there is also a supernatural and mystical dimension to these festivals, as different masquerades, often seen as a connection to ancestral spirits, frequently appear in these celebrations.
